ESI Center Bulgaria began its 2007 regional activity with the “Software Process Improvement – Roadmap to Maturity” seminar in Republic of Moldova.

24 participants from 16 organizations attended the event. They were mainly presenting leading IT companies like Endava, Deeplace, AlfaXP, Soft Com, Rit Labs, Allied Testing, Intexnauca and more. Representatives of the local donor programs in the field of ICT also took part in the seminar.

“SPI – Roadmap to Maturity” is a half-day seminar featuring methodologies and initiatives that assist software process improvement (SPI), in the context of IT industry growth in Eastern Europe. It lays particular stress on the leading software engineering methodologies in processes maturity (CMMI) and business and software quality in SMEs (ITMark). It also emphasises on the role these methodologies play so that the leading companies of South-Eastern Europe to increase their effectiveness and competitiveness.

This role is already well understood by the companies. During the meetings, ESI Center Bulgaria representatives have had along with the seminar, several Moldovan companies expressed strong interest in CMMI and ITMark implementation. In the near future they are planning to undertake Software Process Improvement initiatives using these methodologies.

This event forms an important part of ICT sector’s life in Moldova, but also in the region as a whole. It is the 5th such an event in the region of South-Eastern Europe, organized by ESI Center Bulgaria, after Romania, Serbia & Montenegro, Macedonia and Turkey.

This seminar was supported by two USAID projects: Regional Competitiveness Initiative and Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development in Moldova.
