ESI Center Bulgaria and the software company Multiprocessor Systems MPS have put Southeastern Europe on the CMMI map of software maturity. MPS is the first in the Region that has obtained CMMI, SCAMPI A certificate after the appraisal completed on Nov 23, 2006 and published on SEI official site.

The certification is a result of SPI (Software Process Improvement) program in collaboration between MPS, ESI Center Bulgaria and USAID (RCI, VEGA BTD), GTZ and EBRD BAS donor programs. In addition to full company commitment ESI Center Bulgaria provides financial aids for most of its projects, by joint projects with donor organizations. Thus SMEs get quality certificates at acceptable price and have the opportunity to be “equal” in quality standards to large organizations.

On its way to mature software processes, MPS has covered also the requirements for IT Mark Basic and IT Mark Premium, the certificate for high quality and maturity of IT SMEs.

ESI Center Bulgaria expects that by the middle of 2007 at least 12 companies in the region will obtain IT Mark, and 5 – CMMI.
