The autumn 2014 calendar of trainings at ESI CEE is featuring the following courses and workshops:

The courses will be held in ESI CEE e-Competence Center in Sofia, Business Park Sofia (Mladost 4), bldg.11B, fl.1. 

Upon successful completion of a course attendees will receive a certificate from the European Software Institute CEE and/or respective certification authority such as CMMI Institute, Software Engineering Institute, Carnegie Melon University, Lean Kanban University, and others.

All courses will be presented in English by accredited or SEI-certified instructors with considerable experience in training, coaching and practical implementation.

ESI CEE can deliver tailored in-company versions of the courses, as well as design and facilitation of qualification programs.

DDOS, RTBH & Self-Protection – This is a devOps 1-day training aiming to introduce the participants to DDOS and one of the most popular methods for DDOS protection – RTBH. The course is half-day theory and half-day laboratory exercises. The lab aims to teach you how to configure RTBH and also how to add some self-protection to your applications.

Introduction to Lean Six Sigma – The training is co-organized by ESI CEE and ITCE. The key topics include:

  • Introduction to Lean Six Sigma for software engineering and ICT. Define-Measure-Analyse-Improve-Control (DMAIC);
  • Defining a problem, objectives and a business case;
  • Defining a measurement system;
  • Main techniques for quantitative data analysis;
  • Introduction to Systems Thinking and Lean Thinking;
  • Lean Six Sigma-based Journey to Excellence;
  • Lean Six Sigma and other quality frameworks like CMMI and ITIL.

Top 10 Web Threats – This 1-day course is designed to introduce developers to the inner workings of the top web threats, how they are exploited, and how to write code that is secure against these threats. The course includes live demos of attacks, exercises in detecting and leveraging threats, examples of weak and vulnerable code and the process of repairing it and fixing vulnerabilities, mitigation tactics, developer-specific best practices and discussions on how not to write vulnerable code in the process of daily work. The course is mostly technical and not organizational.

Advanced Web Threats – The course includes live demos of attacks, exercises in detecting and leveraging threats, examples of weak and vulnerable code and the process of repairing it and fixing vulnerabilities, mitigation tactics, developer-specific best practices and discussions on how not to write vulnerable code in the process of daily work. The course is mostly technical and not organizational. The advanced course will additionally include exercises in which participants in turn attempt to fix and attack particular implementations. Heavier focus will be placed on labs.

Executive TSP/PSP seminar – this half-day seminar is a tailored and executive version of the PSP/TSP (Personal/Team Software Processes) bundle of courses from SEI (Carnegie Mellon) which will present the key concepts and principles of the courses from a management perspective. Ideal for executives and managers responsible for software development or maintenance and software support areas such as software quality assurance, software engineering process groups, systems or hardware engineering, documentation, or finance.

Introduction to Mobile Security – iOS – This course is focused on introducing developers to the basics of iOS application security and the basic threats and vulnerabilities they should be aware of when designing and coding such application. The course is technical and the targeted participants are iOS developers that understand Objective-C, but have no particular experience in iOS security.

Leading a Development Team – 2,5-day course designed to teach first-line managers or team leaders how to manage projects quantitatively in order to complete projects on schedule, within budget, and with all requirements met. The course covers the knowledge and skills leaders need to effectively lead and coach development teams.

Kanban: Optimize success – This two-day course is introducing participants to the kanban system and the Kanban method and helping them acquire basic skills on designing a kanban system and using it for managing software development projects and operations. Kanban is a lightweight method focused on visualizing the software development workflow, maintaining a steady pace of work and balancing demand and team capacity. In contrast with other methods Kanban does not prescribe any initial changes to processes, roles and job titles. It rather concentrates on effectively eliminating impediments in the workflow in order to deliver value as rapidly as possible and to meet project and organizational objectives.

Introduction to Mobile Security – Android – This course is focused on introducing developers to the basics of Android application security and the basic threats and vulnerabilities they should be aware of when designing and coding such application. The course is technical and the targeted participants are Android developers that have deep understanding of the Java programming language and the Android platform, but have no particular experience in Android security.
